Officials at Jasper National Park are warning anyone planning to camp in Jasper over the long weekend, without a reservation, will be out of luck.

Part of Snaring Road is flooded due to a melting snow pack coupled with heavy rains, which has meant the Snaring Campsite and the overflow camping area have been blocked off.

“If we are fully booked [at] 100 percent capacity on a normal Canada Day long weekend, and now reduce that by this number and we’re anticipating a certain amount of trouble,” Chris Whitty with Jasper National Park said in a phone interview Wednesday.”

Officials told CTV News they don’t want prospective campers to come to the national park and be disappointed.

Campers who don’t have reservations are encouraged to find campsites in areas surrounding the park.
