RCMP are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in a burnt out area near Lac La Biche.


Two hunters contacted police after they spotted a sparsely wooded area on fire.

Police were called to an area about 25 kilometres north of Lac La Biche off Secondary Highway 858 just before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday after the hunters spotted the flames.

The fire was quickly put out and investigators determined there was a human body in the burnt out area.

Police are treating this as a suspicious death and will investigate it as a homicide.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday morning to determine the cause of death.

Police are not releasing the age, gender or identity of the deceased until the details have been confirmed by the Medical Examiner.
