RCMP have arrested a man in connection to the two alleged sexual assaults in Hinton and Edson-area Wal-Marts last week.

Police were first called to a Hinton Wal-Mart on Sept.8 around 4 p.m. after reports a man allegedly tried to attack at least one female customer.

A short time later, officers in Edson received a similar call where two female shoppers reported being sexually assaulted.

Police say they believe the two incidents are linked and may have been performed by the same man.

The suspect has also been charged with kidnapping a 7-year-old girl on the same day.

Robert Joseph Wingie, 42, has been charged with kidnapping, abduction of a child under 14, three counts sexual assault and dangerous driving.

Police say he was arrested without incident in a Fort McMurray home.

His is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
