Edmonton police are investigating, after a collision between a van and a motorcycle left a number of people injured, and one dead.

Officers were called to Victoria Park Road near the crosswalk for the Victoria Park Golf Course just before 7 p.m. Sunday, on reports of a two-vehicle collision.

It was reported that a van was heading northeast in the curb lane, when it’s alleged the driver attempted a U-turn near the crosswalk for the Victoria Park Golf Course Driving Range.

A motorcycle was also headed northeast, and struck the driver’s side of the van.

The 21-year-old man who was driving the motorcycle was treated by paramedics on the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Six people were in the van at the time of the collision, four suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution – among the injured was a 2-year-old girl who was in a car seat at the time.

At last word, police were working to determine contributing factors to the crash, and charges are pending against the 47-year-old male driver of the van.
