Officials with the Red Cross are working to contact evacuees who have registered with them, in an effort to confirm numbers.
The Red Cross is working to contact registered evacuees to validate their registration, officials said.
Emails started going out to registered evacuees on Sunday night, Municipal Affairs Minister Danielle Larivee said Sunday in a tweet.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo sent out a tweet Monday morning with a reminder for evacuees as well.
Don't forget to confirm your registration with @RedCrossAB by 11:59 p.m. tonight (May 9) #ymmfire #FortMacFire pic.twitter.com/tik7VjKJNQ

The message asks evacuees to confirm the number of people in their household who evacuated from the wildfire in Fort McMurray by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 9.
At last word, more than 36,000 evacuees had registered.
Officials said the e-mails are going out in waves, but registered evacuees who had not received the email were asked to call the Red Cross at 1-888-350-6070.
