RCMP said charges were pending after a man was arrested following an hours-long standoff near St. Paul.

Police said at about 4:45 p.m. Monday, officers were called in to a home in the area of Highway 881 and Highway 29 near St. Paul to help a bailiff who had tried to retrieve a vehicle there, but was confronted by an armed man.

Investigators said a gun shot was heard from the area.

Officers from the Edmonton Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation, EDU, PDS, and Air Services all helped St. Paul RCMP deal with the issue.

The incident was resolved peacefully at about midnight and one male was taken into custody, nobody was injured.

RCMP are still investigating and charges are pending.
