According to a new poll, the Wildrose Alliance party will form the next government.

An Angus Reid survey reveals that the party received 39 per cent support, which was well in front of the reigning Tories at 25 per cent.

When the poll asked respondents, who would you vote for if there was a provincial election, 22 per cent answered the Wildrose Alliance. Then, two months later when the same question was asked, the Wildrose Alliance got 39 per cent in favour.

"There seems to be an expression of discontent with the Tories and the beneficiaries are the Wildrose Alliance," said Grant MacEwan University political scientist Chaldeans Mensah.

The Liberals feel this may be what Alberta needs to pave the way for a change.

"I think the Tory party is imploding," said Liberal leader David Swann. "It's clear they now have choice, which I'm not sure they felt before."

A spokesperson for the premier's office said the survey results are a real concern, but believes Albertan's concerns about the struggling economy has affected what they think of the Stelmach government.

The premier's office also said Stelmach has a plan to deal with the recession, and Albertans will see the effectiveness of that plan in about a year.
