The family of one of the victims of a shooting in Consort has spoken out about the incident that left three people dead and another injured.

According to police, two men were discovered shot at a rural location around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Staff Sgt. Roberta McKale said that one of the men was already dead and the other was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

Family has identified that man as Shawn Lindsay and said they believe he was killed by a former employee, Joe Sylvester.

Bob Lindsay, the father of Shawn, described his son as a happy man who loved his kids.

According to Lindsay, Sylvester had been fired two weeks ago.

“For seven years, Shawn went and picked him up at home and took him to work and dropped him off at home at night after they were done work,” he explained, adding that Shawn had been thinking about firing Sylvester for a while.

Bob said Sylvester showed up at Shawn’s house Friday.

“I guess he came in the house and when Shawn woke up he was standing in the bedroom door with a gun in his hand.”

Bob said Shawn got up and threw him out of the house but claims that Sylvester broke a window and came back into the house.

“I guess he shot Shawn and Shawn shot him.

“If Shawn hadn’t did what he did they'd all be dead over there,” he said, referring to Shawn's two sons.

After the initial call, officers were sent to a second home where 44-year-old Christine Clifford was found dead.

Another woman, identified as Billie-Jo Wadden, was injured in the incident but survived.

“We are getting details coming in and we are sorting through information as this progresses,” Staff Sgt. McKale explained.

“This affected a large number of people. In a community of this size everybody knows everybody. We have utilized victim services as well as a Chaplain program to assist us in supporting the community.”

McKale confirmed that they were not searching for a suspect.

“The community is safe and our investigation is ongoing just to sort out the facts. However, we are feeling confident that the community has no concerns with regards to public safety,” she said, adding the three victims were known to each other.
