Four people were taken into custody Wednesday, as police investigate an alleged drive-by shooting in east Edmonton early that morning.

Officers say they were waved down by a group of youngsters while patrolling, around 2:00 a.m., in Parkdale neighbourhood. The kids claimed that somebody inside a car, circling the area, had shot at them multiple times.

“They indicated they had actually been shot at by a car passing by at the same time our members in the police car actually heard a number of rounds go off in the neighbourhood,” EPS Inspector Regan James told CTV News.

Police said the teens pointed out the suspect vehicle as it passed through the area again, and it was blocked by police during a high-risk takedown.

A resident, whose identity is being withheld, said gunfire in the area had her fearing for the safety of her family.

“[I] heard some kids screaming. About five or six minutes later, I heard another gunshot and I saw another vehicle, or the same vehicle, going down the next street over and again I heard the kids screaming on the side,” she said.

Police confirm that a gun was recovered and the vehicle seized, and the four people – two males and two females ranging in age from 19 to 37-years-old - were facing numerous weapons charges.

None of the teens were hit by bullets, although a home appeared to have been struck by a bullet.
