Days after an Edmonton man went public with his story, and made a public plea for the return of an urn containing the ashes of his twin daughters, CTV News has learned that urn was returned.

On Monday, Jeffery Chalifoux talked to CTV News about a break-in and theft at his home the day before.

Jewelry and money was stolen, but the thieves also took a heart-shaped urn containing the ashes of his twins who were stillborn to Jeff and his wife four years ago.

Then, on Thursday, Chalifoux said he spotted the urn in the snow on his front yard that morning.

“[I was in] disbelief,” Chalifoux said. “I kind of did a double take, and hurt my neck a little bit.

“I just immediately smiled knowing that the weight of having our baby girls taken from us has been a lot.”

Chalifoux said he wasn’t sure how the urn ended up back on his property, but he thanked whoever brought it back for doing so.
