RCMP are still investigating, days after a body was found inside of a burned-out car found near Stony Plain Friday.

Stony Plain RCMP said an autopsy determined Grant Potts, 25, of the Alexis First Nation was found inside the car.

The investigation started after police were called to a car fire Friday morning north of Highway 16 between Range Roads 13 and 14 – the case was immediately handled as a suspicious death after human remains were found inside the vehicle.

Now, Stony Plain RCMP and the RCMP Major Crimes Unit is handling this case as a homicide investigation.

Police are asking the public to share information they have on the incident – anyone with information on Potts’ movements, or if they saw the red, four door 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix in or around the Stony Plain area on Friday is asked to call Stony Plain RCMP at 780-968-7200 or Crime Stoppers.
