Alberta’s Finance Minister announced the date for the NDP’s first provincial budget.

Finance Minister Joe Ceci said in a news conference Monday morning that the government’s first provincial budget would be tabled in the legislature on Tuesday, October 27.

“The budget will outline our plan to stimulate economic growth, diversification, and job creation,” Ceci said.

It will be the first budget released by the NDP government, since it took over power from the PCs in May.

The last provincial budget was passed under former premier Alison Redford – the lengthy delay has created an uncertain environment, critics said.

“Nobody will invest in our province until we know what the tax regime is going to look like, what the regulatory regime looks like, what royalties look like,” Wildrose Finance Critic Derek Fildebrandt said in an interview with CTV News.

Few budget details were released Monday. More details on the public consultations can be found online.

The legislature will be back in session on October 26.
