Edmonton police said an autopsy had confirmed the identity of human remains found buried under a garage in the city’s northwest at the end of last week.
Police said Tuesday that the remains of Derek James Winnig, 42, were found underneath the floor of a garage in the area of 118 Avenue and 96 Street on Friday, September 29, 2017.
He had been reported missing to police in May, 2017.
The death is being treated as a homicide, and police released the name and photo of the deceased but did not release the cause of death.
