Edmonton police are warning residents of a southwest neighbourhood, after a third assault was reported in the area earlier this week.
Police said a woman in Terwillegar Towne reported she had been attacked in the area Tuesday, January 14.
Investigators said the most recent incident unfolded at about 10:15 p.m., near the 1800 block of Tomlinson Crescent – a 29-year-old woman was reportedly walking home from work when a male suspect grabbed her from behind, and threw her to the ground.
The woman and the suspect struggled briefly, before the suspect fled on foot.
The woman then went home, and told her roommates what had happened, before flagging down a police cruiser that was in the area.
Investigators said the description of the suspect in the case was limited, it was reported the male suspect was wearing dark clothing, black gloves and possibly a balaclava at the time of Tuesday’s incident.
The woman suffered minor injuries to her face.
Police believe the most recent attack is connected to two other similar incidents in the same area – previously, two other women were attacked in incidents on January 9, 2014 near the 5500 block of Stevens Crescent, and on November 8, 2013 near the 1900 block of Tanner Wynd.
EPS are warning area residents to be cautious, and to keep an eye out.
“We recommend walking with friends, if you’re walking alone, don’t use alleyways,” EPS Acting Det. Jerrid Maze said. “Alleyways are not meant for people to walk down, those are meant for vehicles and people to put their garbage out.”
Detective Maze said people should stick to well-lit, high traffic areas.
