One person has died and another seriously injured after a collision south of Entwistle.

RCMP said officers respond to the collision between a crude oil tanker and a grain truck on Highway 22 around 9 p.m. July 11.

Investigators believe the vehicles collided at the intersection, which caused a fire to ignite and engulf both vehicles.

One of the drivers died in the collision while the other was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

Officials closed a section of the Highway between Township Road 524 and 530 and have advised motorists to find alternative routes.

Entwistle is about 95 kilometres west of Edmonton on the Yellowhead Highway.
