RCMP in northern Alberta are trying to identify a man who has been arrested and is facing a number of charges.

RCMP said the man was arrested August 4 near Beaverlodge, and in the week that followed, investigators have not been able to confirm his identity.

The unknown male is facing a total of fifteen charges, all stemming from incidents that occurred in the Beaverlodge area between August 2 and 4.

The charges he is facing include: break and enter, disguise with intent, mischief under $5,000, trespassing at night, and two counts each of possession of property obtained by crime, resisting arrest and obstructing a Peace officer.

He has also been charged with five counts of arson for an incident in Grande Prairie on July 24.

The accused is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • In his early 20s
  • Short brown hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Slim build

Police said he has two scars on his right forearm, and it’s believed he could have ties to Edmonton and Calgary.

The male is in custody, and is scheduled to appear in court September 7.

RCMP said Canadian law allows for a person to be charged, even when his name is in question, as long as his identity is proven at trial, beyond a reasonable doubt by other means such as fingerprints, DNA and eye-witnesses.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700, or call your local police service.
