RCMP in Red Deer have arrested a man involved in a police-vehicle collision and pursuit.
Police said the 33-year-old man from Red Deer was originally wanted on an outstanding warrant for robbery. Warrants for dangerous driving, fleeing from police, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and driving while unauthorized were issued on Thursday.
Officers were conducting surveillance on a Red Deer home on Thursday in the hopes of finding the man when they saw him leave the home and get into a vehicle.
When police tried to stop the man he ran his vehicle into the side of the police car before fleeing the scene.
Police were involved in a short high-speed chase to try and catch the man but stopped to avoid jeopardizing the public’s safety.
