Police south of Edmonton have arrested and charged a teenager, for his alleged role in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man on the Samson Cree Nation late last week.

Maskwacis RCMP said an autopsy, conducted Friday, determined Jacob Soosay, 20, was fatally shot – and his death appeared to be gang related.

The investigation began after police were called to a firearms complaint on the Samson Cree Nation townsite on Thursday, January 9, at about 11 p.m.

RCMP found a 20-year-old man, who was fatally injured, he was later identified as Soosay.

A 16-year-old boy from the Samson Cree Nation has been arrested, and is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the incident – the teen remains I custody, and is expected to appear in court again January 15.
