Just a few hours to go before I jet off. It's trips like these that really show how happily married you are. Ha ha. It’s going to be a long couple of days.

These are the times you wish you could sleep anywhere. The trip will take almost three days. I leave Friday morning and get to Hoi An late Sunday afternoon. The project manager wants to go straight to the playground site to check it out before we get to sleep. It’s a tight schedule.

I am lugging my trusty back pack. It was a Costco buy about 18 years ago. Like most novice travellers, I sewed a huge Canada flag on my pack. But as I hit my first European city...I felt like a maple leaf tattooed sore thumb. So along my way... I picked up patches from other countries and I sewed them on my pack during those few down hours in cheap European hostels. Now it is littered with memories. Each worn patch is a badge of adventure.

A couple of cool travel tools I found preparing for the trip. Travel vacuum bags minus the vacuum are my new packing must. They compact everything and keep clothes organized. Plus, I can stop pocketing hotel shampoos. Lush has these shampoo and conditioner bars that fit in their own container. The shampoo is good for 100 washes. Haven't tested them yet, I will let you know if they work.

Here I go…!
