Edmonton police have issued an arrest warrant for a the owner of a gore website that hosted a video allegedly showing the murder of a student in Montreal last spring, who has been charged, but reportedly breached his bail conditions.

Police said Mark Marek, 38, had breached conditions of bail, and officers haven’t been able to find him.

The development came more than a week after police charged him with corrupting morals, in connection to the murder of Lin Jun earlier this year in Montreal.

It’s believed a video depicting the grisly murder and dismemberment of the victim was posted on Marek’s Best Gore website in May, and the charges stem from the allegation that Marek knew the video had been sent by murder suspect Luka Magnotta when it was published to his website.

The website owner was charged July 17, and was released on $7,500 cash bail the next day.

Marek is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 183 cm (6') tall
  • 104 kg (230 lbs)
  • Originally has brown hair
  • Blue eyes
  • Earring in his left ear
  • Speaks with a Slavic accent

Police said Marek had gone missing from the address he had given police, where he said he would be living under one of the conditions of his release.

Anyone with information on Marek's whereabouts is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

UPDATE: Marek was taken into custody Friday, July 26 in the Nisku area.
