Edmonton police have confirmed the local owner of a gore website is back in police custody, a day after an arrest warrant was issued when he breached bail conditions.

CTV News confirmed Mark Marek was arrested Friday afternoon in Nisku, south of Edmonton – after police received a tip from a citizen on Marek’s whereabouts.

Police said officers converged on a storage facility in Leduc, where Marek returned, and then followed him to a nearby gas station where he was taken into custody.

Edmonton Police Service officials issued a warrant for his arrest Thursday after officers said he could not be found.

He was arrested by EPS investigators last week, and charged on Tuesday, July 17 with corrupting morals – it’s alleged he posted a video on his website, Best Gore, which showed the grisly murder of student Lin Jun in Montreal earlier this year.

Police believe Marek knew the video came from the man charged with the homicide, Luka Magnotta, but posted it online anyways.

He was released on $7,500 cash bail Wednesday, July 18, under a number of conditions – including he was supposed to maintain an address in Edmonton.

However, on Thursday, July 25, police said officers went to check on Marek at the address he had provided, but found he wasn’t there – and they couldn’t find him.
