RCMP in British Columbia have turned their attention to an Alberta man in their investigation of sexual assault allegations, a man who only recently faced a series of sexual assault-related charges in Spruce Grove.

Investigators said they began their investigation on October 21, 2011, into 42-year-old Robert Paolinelli's past work as a youth hockey coach and referee, associated with the Prince Rupert Minor Hockey Association in the mid-to-late 1980s.

Prince Rupert RCMP were prompted to open the investigation after attention drawn by sexual assault-related charges laid against him by Stony Plain RCMP in October lead to a complaint.

In October, Stony Plain RCMP charged Paolinelli with sexual assault, sexual exploitation and forcible confinement.

The former teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas School in Spruce Grove was released on bail, with several strict conditions.

Investigators said they believe there are other victims who have yet to come forward.
