Few new details have been released, but Innisfail RCMP have confirmed a woman who died in an explosion last week, was murdered.

The Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the victim on Monday, and confirmed the blast that killed 23-year-old Victoria Shachtay was homicide.

"The cause of death has been determined to be from blast explosion," Sgt. Patrick Webb said Tuesday.

Investigators said the victim was targeted in the explosion, however did not elaborate on the details.

Shachtay's sudden death has rocked the community.

"She was a friendly girl, outgoing," Neighbour June Crossley said. "She wouldn't harm anybody."

Crossley told CTV News she was just getting to know Shachtay, who had just recently moved to Innisfail from Red Deer.

RCMP have no suspects, and no arrests have been made – members from Innisfail RCMP, the Major Crimes Unit and other specialized units are still investigating.

Investigators also issued a warning to the public.

"We do want the public to be aware of any hand-delivered packages," Sgt. Webb said. "[We ask anyone] to give the detachment a call, in Innisfail or wherever else,

"We'll check it out just to make sure."

Officers are asking anyone with information that could be related to the blast to contact Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-3342 or central Alberta Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.

A family spokesperson told CTV News a memorial service for Victoria Shachtay has been planned for Saturday.
