Edmonton police are investigating a suspicious death that happened at a downtown condominium.

Officers were called out to the building on 103 Avenue and 111 Street around 8 a.m. January 1.

According to police, a 52-year-old man had been found by a friend in the stairwell.

“He knocked on doors in the condominium building to try and get help,” Edmonton Police Service spokesperson Patrycia Thenu explained.

Officers performed CPR on the victim until paramedics arrived however, the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“Homicide detectives are treating this as a suspicious death because, obviously, there were some signs that caused them concern,” she said.

Police have no suspects at this time.

An autopsy is expected to be scheduled for Thursday.
