The family of a 39-year-old woman found dead earlier this week has issued a statement to CTV Edmonton on Sunday.

Charissa Kozakewich was found dead in a southeast home on October 4.

Edward Fountain, 42 has been charged with her murder.

“We are deeply saddened and shocked by the shortened life of our beloved Charissa,” the statement reads.

“We cannot put our pain into words, but are thankful as we have received so much love, support and prayers from family and friends.

“Charissa was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend. She was compassionate, generous, caring, kind and self-less.

“What defined Charissa’s life was a mission to please and heal others, and an over-whelming desire to ensure that everyone who surrounded her was happy. Although her life was taken too soon, the gates of heaven have opened up and received one very special angel."

The family also thanked the members of the Edmonton Police Service for their work on the case.

“We would also like to thank everyone for all of their support, love and prayers. At this time, we ask for privacy to mourn. Thank you.”

The family will be holding a private memorial service for Charissa.
