Police west of Edmonton are investigating, after two vehicles collided on the highway west of Stony Plain Friday morning.
Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP said officers were called to the scene of a traffic collision on the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16) and Range Road 31 just before 10 a.m.
Police believe a pickup truck travelling south on Range Road 31 failed to stop at a stop sign, and collided with a westbound vehicle travelling on Highway 16.
The female passenger in the car was pronounced dead on the scene, and the male driver was rushed to hospital in Edmonton with serious injuries.
The driver of the truck was arrested on the scene, impaired driving charges are pending.
Police said speed and alcohol were both factors in the collision.
