RCMP said Monday that a man in his 20s had been charged in connection to the death of a teenager in Wetaskiwin on Thursday, August 24.
On Thursday, just before 10:30 p.m., police were called to the area of 48 Street and 53 Avenue in Wetaskiwin – after a teenaged male was found suffering from serious injuries.
He was taken to the Wetaskiwin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A male was later found in front of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Detachment, suffering from non-life threatening injuries, he was also taken to hospital where he was treated while in police custody.
On Monday, RCMP said Matthew Alexander Lightning, 22, of Wetaskiwin, had been arrested and charged with second degree murder on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Nakoda Twoyoungmen, 16, of Samson Cree Nation.
An autopsy confirmed Twoyoungmen’s death was homicide.
