Two employees in a store about 200 kilometres away from Merritt, B.C say they saw a man matching the description of Allan Schoenborn, the prime suspect wanted for the murder of his three children, but when they called RCMP no one came to investigate.
They say the man returned some beer cans and bought cigarette papers at their store in Lumby, B.C this weekend.
The employees say they called the RCMP tip line, but didn't get a response. They say they also called local police but nobody came to investigate.
"We're slightly concerned that if in fact it is a good lead, if this person was travelling through our community, it would be a good starting point," said store owner Dennis Dandenault.
Schoenborn is wanted in connection with the deaths of his three young children. Their bodies were discovered by their mother at their Merritt, B.C. home last Sunday.
Police believe Schoenborn may be hiding in the nearby woods.
