Two bison were shot and killed near the entrance within Elk Island National Park last month and wardens with Parks Canada are searching for the people responsible.

Over the weekend of October 17-18, at least one person killed two bison and then dragged one of the animals along the highway to a field about 800 metres north of the park.

Parks Canada says some of the meat was removed.

Investigators say a white Dodge pickup truck with extra grill lights and a rooftop light bar was spotted in the area.

Parks Canada says the poaching incident is a serious offence under the Canada National Parks Act and is asking anyone with information to call 1-877-852-3100.
