Police said they were searching for a number of suspects, after a home in northeast Edmonton was broken into Monday morning, and a man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound.

Officers were first called to a home near 119 Avenue and 38 Street just after 7:30 a.m. Monday – after receiving an alarm call and weapons complaint.

Reports indicated several masked suspects had entered the home before using bear spray. A 50-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. He was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects fled before police arrived on the scene. EPS said investigators are interviewing witnesses.
