Less than one month has passed after an out of control wildfire destroyed a portion of Slave Lake, plans have been put in motion to rebuild the hundreds of homes and businesses destroyed in the disaster.

Residents and officials discussed the plans in a town meeting Saturday.

In the meetings, the town was sectioned off into four zones according to the extent of damage.

The least affected zone only saw a few homes destroyed, but infrastructure remained intact.

One zone saw complete destruction, and was reduced almost entirely to ashes.

While cleanup will continue in all four zones, construction won't begin in the worst affected areas for at least three months.

In the coming weeks, the town is planning to bring in mobile homes for residents who lost their homes to stay in as the rebuilding process continues.
