Police said Thursday that three individuals had been charged in connection to a break and enter that left one man in hospital with serious injuries.

Officers were called to the area of 133 Avenue and 25 Street at about 2 p.m. Monday, February 29 – after a break and enter and assault with a weapon was reported.

Reports indicated a man had been shot inside a home, and witnesses saw a silver Pontiac Sunfire leaving the scene.

Police managed to track down the suspicious vehicle at a home in the area of 85 Street and 136 Avenue – police saw a female suspect leave the home in a taxi. Police stopped the taxy nearby, and the female was arrested.

Police then identified two other male suspects believed to have been involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old male remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.

On Thursday, police said three are facing charges: Keith McDermott, 34, is facing a total 16 charges, including house breaking to commit aggravated assault, robbery with a firearm, two counts of disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence and two counts of pointing a firearm, uttering threats, and other firearms, drug and possession of stolen property charges.

Alison Burns, 19, is facing nine charges, including four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of break in instruments, and possession of body armour without a permit. Steve Paxton, 46, is facing eight charges including housebreaking to commit aggravated assault, and firearms-related charges.

It’s believed the incident was targeted, police are still investigating.
