Dozens of trucks, and cars were damaged in an overnight vandalism spree that struck two west Edmonton dealerships – leaving thousands of dollars in damages.

Police are investigating, and are looking at surveillance footage of the incident, after between 35 and 40 vehicles were smashed on the lots at two dealerships, Great West Chrysler, and West End Nissan.

There’s speculation the vandals could have specifically targeted the two dealerships, one window in the Great West Chrysler building was damaged.

“Just the broken glass, that was it,” Joe Cherfan said. “There was no one else here, there were just the trucks and the cars in the back so I did a drive around the lot and I found 15 vehicles with smashed glass.”

However, breaking the window of the dealership also tripped an alarm – which alerted the owners.

It’s an act Cherfan hasn’t seen often in his more than three decades on the job.

“I’ve been at this 33 years, and I’ve seen it four or five times in my career, so it’s pretty rare,” Cherfan said.

It’s estimated the spree left about $50,000 in damages – all of it is insured.
