In the span of 13 hours, 11 people have died and a number of others have been injured in various collisions on northern Alberta roads.

Two Hills RCMP responded to two fatal crashes between Friday evening and early Saturday morning.

The crash Friday at 8 p.m. claimed the life of a 44-year-old man, when the car he was driving crashed into a truck near Willingdon, 110 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

Then a few hours later, Mounties from the same detachment were called out to a single-vehicle rollover that killed four men, aged 38, 30, 24 and 22, from the St. Paul and Saddle Lake area. They were travelling in a vehicle with a total of seven people onboard.

Meantime, RCMP from the Evansburg detachment responded to a fatal single-vehicle rollover just before 5 a.m. Saturday. A 34-year-old man died at the scene.

A rollover near Peace River at 6:30 a.m. Saturday killed two 26-year-old men when they were ejected from their vehicle.

Then, at 9:15 a.m. Saturday three people died in a crash south of Spruce Grove, involving a gravel truck and a pickup truck.

Three people in the pickup, including the driver died on scene. A fourth person in the pickup was flown by STARS to a hospital in Edmonton with serious injuries.
