An Edmonton man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to careless driving in a collision that left a 64-year-old dead.
Adam Gauthier has been fined $2,300 in the incident, which occurred on July 20, 2012 near Conklin.
His driver’s license has also been suspended for three months.
RCMP said the head-on collision involved a red pickup track and a small dark vehicle, which occurred on Secondary Highway 881 just one kilometer south of Conklin.
The 64-year-old victim from Medicine Hat was declared deceased at the scene.
Gauthier was air lifted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP will not be releasing any other information out of respect for the family of the Medicine Hat man.
Conklin is about four hours northeast of Edmonton.
