RCMP have arrested one person, after police stopped a vehicle on a central Alberta highway Monday afternoon – and found hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth in Canadian currency.

Police said an officer was on patrol near Olds on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway – and stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

After that, the vehicle was searched under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with the help of the Canine Unit – and a number of sealed bags full of Canadian currency was found.

It’s estimated the cash totals between $300,000 and $500,000.

As a result, the driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of the proceeds of crime, and the money was seized.
