Police with the RCMP Roving Traffic Unit unveiled the results of a number of drug and weapons seizures officers had carried out so far this year.

In three months, police have confiscated nearly 181 kilograms of marijuana, and large amounts of other illicit drugs including cocaine, heroin, oxycodone and crystal meth.

In addition, police recovered up to $500,000 in cash – and a number of firearms and ammunition.

The seizures came as part of a series of routine traffic stops carried out by RCMP officers on Alberta highways.

A total of 28 people are facing dozens of charges in relation to the seizures.
