In a Facebook post, Stony Plain Mayor William Choy described Saturday’s water main break as “major.”
The water shortage lasted about one hour for the majority of residents.

The first water main break occurred Friday morning at a construction site on 44 Avenue. As a result, the municipal water supply was shut off at 3 p.m., and the city issued a boil water advisory that will remain in effect until Monday at noon.
