Yet more water struggles for Stony Plain, with a second water main break in two days.

Over 16,000 residents had no running water temporarily Saturday night, starting at around 7 p.m.

In a Facebook post, Stony Plain Mayor William Choy described Saturday’s water main break as “major.”

The water shortage lasted about one hour for the majority of residents.

But it wasn’t until Sunday morning that the entire town had running water in their homes.

The first water main break occurred Friday morning at a construction site on 44 Avenue. As a result, the municipal water supply was shut off at 3 p.m., and the city issued a boil water advisory that will remain in effect until Monday at noon.
