Stony Plain businesses are struggling as a result of a boil water advisory issued after a water main break Friday.

Hotels and restaurants are already experiencing a significant decrease in clientele.

“It’s damaging the business, for sure,” Katerina Kadoglu, the owner of KC’s Restaurant and Lounge, told CTV Edmonton. “We’re probably going to close down today because nobody here."

A Motel 6 employee told CTV Edmonton they lost guests to Spruce Grove Friday night. Other hotels are offering bottled water and even discounts.

Alberta Health Services told CTV Edmonton that no one has gotten sick from drinking the water so far.

The boil water advisory is scheduled to remain in effect until Monday at noon, while crews repair the damage at a construction site on 44 Avenue.
