Edmonton police said a woman was in custody, and an investigation was underway, after a vehicle was seen driving erratically and hitting other vehicles Friday morning.

Just after 9 a.m. Friday, officers received reports that the vehicle had struck a number of other vehicles in the area of 50 Street and 19 Avenue.

Witnesses told police the driver of an orange Mitsubishi Eclipse had struck a vehicle, and then driven away.

Other witnesses told police the same vehicle had been seen driving erratically, and hitting other vehicles as it continued northbound on 50 Street.

The Eclipse came to a stop in the area of 69 Avenue and 42 Street, and that’s where police took the female driver into custody.

EPS told CTV News there’s investigators believe alcohol or drugs, or both could have been a factor.

Police are still investigating.
