Australian child psychiatrist, Aaron Voon, was arrested on Thursday night at Perth Airport in Australia after returning home from Edmonton.

Australia’s Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) charged the 41-year-old man with possession of child exploitation material.

Using information provided by ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) team in Edmonton, Australian police searched Voon’s home and business where investigators allegedly found a number of images “classified as child exploitation material.”

He appeared in a Perth court on Friday and is currently being held in custody.

In May, Voon was arrested for allegedly using a mobile device to record a boy using the washroom at the Scotiabank theatre in West Edmonton Mall.

Following a joint investigation between ALERT ICE and Edmonton police, he was later charged with possession of child pornography, making child pornography and voyeurism.

Voon appeared in Edmonton court on June 2 and was released on $75,000 bail and under strict conditions – he was allowed to fly home to Australia.

Voon has another court appearance related to charges in Edmonton on June 16.

ALERT encourages anyone with information about this investigation or any child exploitation offence to contact police.
