EDMONTON -- Police are no longer looking for a driver who smashed into the Kitscoty RCMP detachment sign and caused damage to a parked police vehicle.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 17. The driver left the scene without reporting the crash.

RCMP asked the public for help on Dec. 20 in identifying the vehicle believed to be involved, a mid-to-late 2000s Dodge pickup truck that is white or silver and has damage to the passenger side headlight area.

The next day, an 18-year-old man turned himself in to the Kitscoty RCMP detachment.

He faces two charges under the Traffic Safety Act related to driving carelessly and failing to notify the owner of an unattended vehicle that was involved in a crash.

Kitscoty is about 230 kilometres east of Edmonton.
