In the wake of a massive snowfall, parking bans were announced in at least two areas of the Capital Region Friday morning.
In Edmonton, officials announced a seasonal parking ban would go into effect Friday, November 28 at 11 p.m.
At that time, parking will not be allowed on residential bus routes until the parking ban is lifted and any vehicles parked on those routes will be subject to tagging and towing while the ban is in effect.
City of Edmonton to start neighbourhood blading December 1
Officials with the City of Edmonton announced Friday that crews would start a neighbourhood blading cycle on Monday, December 1, ending Friday, December 5.
At 12:01 a.m. Monday, roadway maintenance crews will start blading the snow to a level 5 cm snow pack.
There is no parking ban in place for residential blading, but the city is asking drivers to move their vehicles, or park off-street when possible to allow trucks to clear snow right up to the curb.
A neighbourhood blading schedule has been posted on the City of Edmonton website – the city said the day for blading on their streets will stay the same throughout the winter – so if it’s bladed on a Wednesday during the first round, it will always be done on a Wednesday during future snow clearing cycles.
Strathcona County announces parking ban
Officials with Strathcona County announced Friday that a snow route parking ban will go into effect Saturday at noon in Sherwood Park – where parking restrictions will be enforced on collector roads with permanent snow route signs.
In that area, residential street clearing will start Monday – and in rural areas, grid roads are expected to be completed Monday, and country residential roads cleared by Wednesday.
