Detectives from Edmonton Police Service's southeast and southwest divisions are asking the public to share any information they may have after a third random assault on a woman near Whyte Avenue.

Police believe the same suspect is behind the most recent assault, which occurred at about 2 am on Sunday, April 1.

A 23-year-old woman was walking alone from a bar in the area of 84 Avenue and 109 Street, when an unknown man approached her from behind.

The woman was choked, but managed to fight him off and scream for help – and the suspect fled the scene. She sustained minor scrapes and bruising in the incident.

The incident was reported to police the next day.

Investigators believe the most recent incident is tied to two other similar incidents which occurred on March 20 and 28, and that the same suspect is behind each of the attacks.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Between 162 cm (5'4") and 183 cm (6')
  • Weighing about 68 kg (150 lb)
  • Slim build
  • The suspect was wearing blue jeans at the time, and he may wear a white, black or gray hoodie.

Anyone with information on the suspect, or the attacks, is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
