A preliminary hearing is underway for the woman accused of killing her two young children.

Allyson McConnell is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of her two sons. The bodies of two-year-old Connor and ten-month-old Jayden were found in the bathtub at the family's home last February.

McConnell's car was later found near an Edmonton overpass where police responded to a reported suicide attempt.

After psychiatric tests, it was determined that McConnell is fit to stand trial. The preliminary hearing will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to go forward.

The hearing is expected to last three days.
