More than a year after the murder of 25-year-old Lloyd Sarson, police have arrested the teenager believed to be responsible.

The 18-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested at a Vancouver apartment last week.

The teen has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Lloyd Sarson, whose body was found in a vehicle in a Red Deer alley in the early morning hours of January 1, 2013.

Police believed Sarson was shot in a targeted attack.

Within a week of the homicide, RCMP issued a Canada wide warrant for the suspect, who was believed to be associated with an organized crime group with ties in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia.

RCMP continued to search for the teen, and on the anniversary of Sarson’s murder, offered a cash reward for information that could lead to his capture.

Assistance from the public led RCMP to a Vancouver apartment, and the Vancouver Police Department and Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC were notified.

On March 13, the teen was arrested alongside another 18-year-old fugitive who was found in the apartment.

The other fugitive found was wanted for the second degree murder of Nigel Dixon, who was killed on April 4, 2013 in Winnipeg.

Both accused have been transported back to the province where their offences occurred.
