Two people are safe after a fire broke out in their home Saturday morning.

Fire officials said several residents in the community at 2908 116A Avenue called in the blaze just after 11 a.m.

District chief Dennis Hushagen said 24 firefighters responded and found that two residents in the unit had gotten out safely.

“Crews then initiated a search and rescue to make sure that adjacent occupants had been evacuated.”

It took just over 20 minutes for firefighters to get the blaze under control.

Hushagen said the cause and cost of the fire is under investigation.
