Edmonton police said the autopsy had been conducted relating to a weekend death, and confirmed it was a homicide.

EPS said Kathleen Emma Morton, 27, had been identified as the victim in the case, and the Medical Examiner had confirmed she died of a gunshot wound.

The investigation started after officers were called to a home in the area of 49 Avenue and 111A Street at 5:30 a.m. after shots were reported.

Officers and paramedics arrived to find a 27-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

She was taken to hospital, but succumbed to her injuries.

Police said they’re searching for two suspects in connection to Morton’s death.

The Homicide Unit continues to investigate, officials said this is the city’s 12th homicide of 2015.
