CTV got a tour of the new terminal at the Edmonton International Airport Monday, which includes U.S. departures and the international and domestic lounge.

The open-concept terminal provides plenty of seating, art installation and a lot more room.

The new terminal will add about eight football-sized fields of space to the existing facility, complete with a larger U.S. departures area, a more streamlined baggage handling services, a new restaurant, retail space, and moving sidewalks.

A large part of the new area will focus on managing the needs of U.S. bound passengers.

The project is coming in about $300 million under the $1-billion budget. The U.S. departure area will be open in February.
